How RFID loss prevention works

  1. Merchandise carries UHF RFID labels. Often the same source-tagged labels used for inventory.
  2. Items are marked as sold at the till. The tag stays on the product; the system knows it was paid for.
  3. A WELLPOINT RFID gate at the exit reads passing tags. An unsold tagged item triggers an alert.
  4. The event is recorded in WELLPOINT.cloud. Which item, which exit, what time.

What it adds over traditional EAS

  • Item-level information: not just "an alarm", but which product, size and colour.
  • Data for decisions: what leaves unpaid, from which exit, at what times.
  • One tag, two jobs: the label used for inventory also protects the item.
  • Fewer false alarms from foreign tags: the system knows its own items.

Traditional EAS remains the right choice for many stores, especially where merchandise is not RFID-tagged at source. WELLPOINT offers both and will tell you honestly which fits.
